RULES

HADDENHAM BOWLS CLUB

1

         The main purposes of the club are to provide facilities for and to promote participation in the amateur sport of flat green bowls.

         The club shall be managed by a Committee consisting of the President,Chairman,Secretary,Assistant Secretary,Treasurer and seven Members of the Club.The Committee shall be electedat the AGM and remain in office for one year.The AGM to be held annually in the last quarterof the year.

         Membership of the Club shall be open to all irrespective of nationality, gender, religion, disability,sexual orientation, race or colour. The Club will ensure that everyone who wishes has an equalopportunity to participate in the sport at all levels and in all roles.

          Each Playing Member shall pay an Annual Subscription of fifty pounds.Junior Members fifteen pounds and Social Members fifteen pounds or such sum as may be fixed at the AGM.

          Membership shall be limited to one hundred Playing members.

          All surplus income or profits are to be reinvested in the club. No surpluses or assets will be distributed to members or third parties.

          Any Member shall be entitled to introduce two guests per day to the Club House,provided that no person whose application for Membership has been declined or who has been expelled from the Club shall be introduced as a guest.The member introducing a guest shall enter the names and addresses of each guest,together with his own name in a book which shall be kept for that purpose in the Club House. Such guests shall pay 20p per day.No guest shall make any payment whatsoever either directly or indirectly for intoxicating liquor supplied on the Club premises.

           Members of visiting teams and their officials with such visiting teams may be admitted to the Club House and all facilities provided by the Club,including the purchase of intoxicating liquor from the bar as if they were members in accordance with the provisions of Section 49(1) of the Licensing Act 1964.

         Applications or nomination for Membership should be made to the Secretary at least two days before the application or nomination comes before the Committee.Persons may not be admitted to any of the privileges of membership, without an interval of at least two days between their nomination or application for membership and their admission,nor may persons becoming members without prior nomination or application be admitted to the privileges of membership without an interval of at least two days between their becoming members and their admission.

         The Club may refuse membership or expel from membership only for good and sufficient cause,such as conduct or character likely to bring the Club or sport into disrepute. Appeal against such a decision may be made to the Club's members and decided by a majority vote.

         That no member or visitor be allowed to play on the Green unless they have bowls, shoes or overshoes.

         That all matters appertaining to the Green shall be left to the Greens Committee to decide.

         Hours of opening of the Bar to be from 11.00am to 11.00pm Monday to Saturday,12.00pm to10.30pm on Sundays and Good Fridays, and 12.00pm to 3.00pm and 7.00pm to 10.30pm on Christmas Day.

          An Extraordinary General Meeting may be called either by : (a) the Secretary on request of the Committee and to be held within reasonable notice, or(b) the Secretary on request of 20 ordinary members and to be held within reasonable notice.

           Upon dissolution of the Club any remaining assets shall be given or transferred to another CASC, a registered charity or the sports governing body for use by them in related community sports.

  1. Alterations or additions to any of the foregoing Rules shall be made only at the AGM or at a Special Meeting convened for the purpose, 21 days notice of the terms of such proposed alteration or addition shall be given to the Secretary.
