About Us

We have teams in the Ely and District afternoon league, mens and ladies evening leagues and the Cambridge and District (CDL) roving cot league. For these leagues members are asked to complete forms showing which games they are available for and would like to be considered. For the Ely District games we try and select teams so that members get an equal number of games. We are currently in division one of the CDL and attempt to pick a reasonably strong team but also try to give everyone a number of games where possible.

The teams for the Ely League are selected on a monthly basis and distributed to members and also displayed on the notice board inside the clubhouse.

The CDL teams are displayed on the outside notice board about a fortnight prior to the game. We have several friendly matches against other clubs that are generally held at weekends. Again a form is displayed on the outside notice board, just put your name down if you want to play.

For new players friendlies are a good way to learn about the game. We also have several internal club tournaments, mainly on weekends, but some are held at the end of the season. Entry sheets are displayed on the inside notice board about a fortnight before the tournament. These are drawn competitions and an attempt is made to make the sides as balanced as possible. This is another way for new bowlers to learn.

We hold Club singles and pairs competitions that run throughout the year.

Lawn Bowls is both a sociable and competitive game and if you decide to join us we hope you will enjoy your membership. If you have any queries please contact the club through the form on the contact page or by speaking to a member of the committee that is found on the Committee and Officers webpage.
